Memories of Sisterhood

Memories of Sisterhood is a collection of moments shared with my sisters, including my biological sisters, friends, and strangers. I wanted to explore the innate bond women share and illustrate moments that I especially cherish. I modeled the book's design off of a diary or scrapbook, including a lot of textural elements to keep the book visually and physically interesting and create an overall sensory experience. I wanted it to feel like a keepsake to reflect how memories are to be treasured. I purposefully left out any faces--besides the image at the end--to make the designs more relatable to the reader. However, I still added some small details that are more personal to me: for example, the serial number on the visitor pass in the third spread (102309) is my sister Lulu's birthday, and the cat mugs and ricotta cookies are a staple of my family's Christmas morning breakfast. Overall, I wanted to balance the personal aspect of my memories while also making them ubiquitous to show how sisterhood is a special bond that affects women everywhere.
